“Serenadenkonzerte” of the State of Lower Austria at interesting locations of musical history
In the course of the centuries quite a few of the most outstanding composers of musical history have worked in Lower Austria and have left remarkable compositions.
Joseph Haydn was born in Rohrau, Lower Austria in 1732, Ludwig v. Beethoven wrote his 9th symphony during one of his many stays in Baden near Vienna in 1823 and Franz Schubert spent numerous summer holidays in Schloss Atzenbrugg, where he did not only compose a lot but also took part in the famous “Schubertiaden”. Also Hugo Wolf, the famous romantic composer of songs wrote some of his most famous works during his frequent stays in his Perchtoldsdorf home.
